Welcome
to the 2nd Global Forum for Event Organisers & Suppliers
to
the Oil, Gas and Energy Sector hosted by the City of Madrid
!
The
2nd Global Forum for Event Organisers & Suppliers to the oil,
gas and energy sector: OGE 2007 will be held at the IFEMA Exhibition
Centre, in the beautiful city of Madrid. The event is sponsored
by IFEMA and the Madrid Convention Bureau.
The
OGE Forum is the ONLY event which unites global oil, gas and energy
event organisers. The aim of the forum is to provide participants
with an all-round understanding of the current oil and gas exhibition
industry, enabling them to share information and exchange experiences,
view the latest industry technology and understand the expectations
of the major oil and gas companies when they take part in an exhibition
or conference. This will, in turn, enable the exhibition organisers
to improve their events and grow their business, whilst improving
the quality and focus of the events for oil and gas companies.
The
OGE Forum gathers representatives from event organisers, industry
associations, major oil and gas companies, government bodies, venues
and suppliers, including PR and media services, publishers, stand
builders and contractors, freight forwarders, registration services,
IT & software solutions, tourism boards, security companies,
audio-visual suppliers etc.
IFEMA-Feria
de Madrid is situated to the north east of the city, next to Campo
de las Naciones. The area is a thriving hub of business activity,
which has seen enormous development in recent years. The venue is
just five minutes from Madrid Barajas International Airport and
ten minutes from central Madrid by metro. The city's major motorways
surround the venue, allowing easy access by car.
The
City of Madrid
The
origins of Madrid date back to the ninth century. Originally called
‘La Comunidad' (The Borough), Madrid was made the capital of Spain
in 1561 by King Philip II.
Madrid is located in the geographic centre of the Iberian Peninsula
, right in the heart of the Castilian plain (646m above sea level).
Surrounded by mountains and impressive landscapes, Madrid has a
temperate continental climate, characterised by warm dry summers
and cold winters.
Madrid lies 385 kilometres southwest of Barcelona and 287 kilometres
north of Seville . Puerta del Sol, in the centre of the city, is
a popular and lively meeting point. It is where Spain 's major roads
originate and many local bus lines start and end.
As well as being an important commercial, financial and industrial
centre, Madrid also has a strong cultural history, including bull
fighting, flamenco, the El Rastro flea market, and numerous antique
dealers and artists. The roads from Madrid also lead to many royal
residences: regal palaces, mansions and pavilions built by different
monarchs; their grandeur still unchallenged after so many years.
The balmy nights of Madrid enable many shows and live music events
to be performed outdoors. Walking through the city centre, your
senses will be aroused by smells from the late night cafés,
sounds from evening theatre performances and vibrant street artists.
And the city's attractions continue late into the night - many of
the restaurants do not open until 8 or 9 pm and other night-time
establishments may not open until the early hours of the morning.
